Default DoA sucked dry

Asking all sellers of gemstones in DoA to collaborate and work on increasing the price to its prior glory..

atm it is currently cheaper to buy gemstones and make your own armbrace..
the activity of DoA has reduced significantly in the last month as it is seen as no longer farmable, with nothing to gain barring an armbrace.

people use the ursan skill as and excuse for price reductions but bare in mind it still takes many hours just to get a few gems and also many ursanways fail.

would like to hear other ppls opinions on the matter but my understanding is that DoA will become a thing of the past, which to most ppl, it already has

NOTE: This thread is aimed at buy/sell/farm from DoA

*edit for below response: Yes, non intelligent responses. I asked who suck it dry to be polite not pointing out the obvious, but you ask for it, so here's some just for you: don't be greedy.

DoA is kind of gone, everyone went over to farming in GWEN.

When DoA was new Gemstones were worth a lot, now that DoA is almost dead Gemstones drop in price since no one wants them anymore.

Ursan is pointless for farming.

Gems have always come from solo, duo and similar farmers.

But the main reason is: there's no demand anymore. Those that wanted tormented stuff have gotten it very long time ago. Those that couldn't afford it have gotten it in mean time. Now the supply exceeds the demand.

Then there's also that duping incident.

Those gemset sellers are to blame for the price plummets.

WTB: Titans 6.5k, Margos 4k, Stygian 2k, Torment 3k. WTS Gemstet 22k.

Their greed is driving down the price of individual gems but the price of gem sets is decreasing disproportionately because they want to rip people off. As a result, gems are dirt cheap but Armbrace prices aren't going down much at all.

DoA has been open for a very long time (relative to the lifespan of an average computer game)

Its only normal that the prices for objects are dropping as demand falls. Go and study basic marketplace dynamics if you want to be an ubertrader and stop being so rude.

I dont see what your complaint is. gemstones are following the trend that all items in guild wars follow. Its basic game economy, not people driving down the prices for no reason. It works like this:
Gemstones are new. Everyone wants torrment wpns = high prices
Gemstones have been around and there are muliple builds available for DOA= lower price.
Everyone has one = prices drop quite a bit

Its simple supply and demand. Not sellers conspiring against you. Srry but youll just have to deal with it. If your not making enough money, go to GWEN.

DoA has been overfarmed. People realized they could make cash really fast by either farming the gems and selling them, or by getting armbraces and then selling those.

So now that everyone and their mothers have their tormented items, the price has gone down - no more demand, people try to sell cheaper to get rid of their items.

No more way to make money leads to the death of the area... so no, people won't up the prices because if they're selling too high, no one buys. They want SALES.

(Wow, my basic Economics classes are paying off in a game O___o;; )

being greedy is totally different than wanting more than 10 platinum for 4 hours work

Then simply switch farming runs. I don't farm DoA anymore (I used to, made over a million gold in maybe a month and a half, and some people probably made more than in less time) because it's not profitable... and TBH, I don't mind. People got what they want, I got what I want, I'm happy at some point. Sure it sucks to lose a farming area, but eh, I get over it. I find new stuff.

DoA's not the only place to have lost people - when Sorrow's Furnace came out, the greens went for very high. They had dropped already when I started farming the area (Rago's Flame staff was what, 80k? 70k?) and now you can find one for 30k or so (if not lower? O_o). Tombs greens... Victo's Battle Axe, 90k. When I started farming, 25-20k. Now? 10k and less.

So people move on. Suggestion is to do the same.

Here's the problem with this idea: even if you "rally" the sellers (and there would be no way to rally 'em all so ppl could always get em cheaper) ... there simply aren't buyers who will buy them at their "former glory". When a thing is new and rare, it is worth more than when it is older and very much farmed. This is simple economics. Supply/Demand. There is a much much higher supply now and much less demand as most that wanted them have gotten them. So...the price has dropped. Always happens, always will.

Err, this might be seen as a funny response, but why do you want to be "rich?"

Everything is so cheap now, you can buy anything you want!

Power to the people.

Really?

When DoA came out, armbraces were prohibitively expensive. Gems started at 50k. Buying gems to make one was a multi-million business, more expensive than FoW armor.

Then, the number of gems needed was lowered, farming builds emerged, and gems became readily available.

And these days, armbrace can be yours for 100k + small number of ectos. Quite a big change, isn't it?

These days, what used to be available to a dozen richest people in GW is available to all. Rich is defined in relation to market.

Not really. You still can make decent cash... Slaver's Exile for Voltaic Spears and such other drops is an example. Seems to be the big thing.

And eventually people will stop farming the area because everyone will have gotten one... and people will move on to something else. Can't be stopped, really. You have high demand for stuff, you farm, you meet the demand, prices go down. Then you find a new area, new drops. Rince and repeat.
